1/2 – 1/4 cup of cannabis stems
Optional: Add additional shake and/or weed to increase potency
3 cups of water and a pot to boil it in
Additional bag of tea to add flavor
Coffee filter or reusable tea bag or strainer
Sugar or Honey
Use one of the options below as a binding agent
Option 1: 2-3 Tablespoons of Alcohol
Option 2: 1 cup of Whole Milk or Half & Half Cream
Option 3: ½ tbsp of Butter/Coconut Oil

Grind up your bud:
Increase the surface area of your stems, shake or bud to improve the efficiency of the cannabis extraction. There are two ways you can do this:
- Grind up your weed stems or bud In a magic bullet or coffee grinder.
- You can also use a grinder or just cut them up really small with scissors. This option is a less messy experience but can take more time and patients.
Boil the water:
Fill up the pot with 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil.
Add your binding agent:
Either alcohol, butter, coconut oil, whole milk or half and half cream. Marijuana isn’t water soluble, so you’ll need to add fat or alcohol to extract the THC from the plant material otherwise, you won’t get the desirable effect.
Alcohol tends to be the best binding agent for maximum potency of your cannabis tea. If you choose this binding agent, we recommended that you add it after your water comes to a boil. This prevents your alcohol from evaporating.
Add in Marijuana stems or flower:
Unless you don’t mind chunkies in your tea, add your steams, shake or ground up bud to a coffee filter or reusable tea bag to make the straining process easier. You can also use a strainer to remove the plant material.
Let your concoction boil for at least 7 minutes. For stronger tea let it boil for up to 10 minutes. Make sure you stir it frequently so nothing sticks to the bottom of the pan and burns.
Add Flavoring:
To enhance the flavor, add a tea bag along with sugar or honey as the steams can have a bitter flavor. Let it steep for a few minutes before serving.
